Injection Molding

Injection molding is a manufacturing process that allows us to handle a wide variety of materials. It accommodates single- and multi-cavity mold production for Gel®, other thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), thermoplastic urethanes (TPU), nylon, polyethylene and polystyrene. It includes these steps:

•Heating of material to “plastic flow” temperatures

•Injection of material, under pressure, through sprues into the mold cavity

•Simultaneous heating and cooling of molds to balance plastic flow and part solidification

SSC has a member of its engineering team who specializes in the process, which is used to create insole products and seat cushions.
